"In a single night, in a strange land, 15-year-old Columbia Delano Washington lost his family, this country and, very nearly, his life.". This is the head line in one of an article in Ottawa Citizen, 2007 Jan 22.The article follows: "More than a decade after he escaped the killers of his family in Liberia, Ottawa resident Columbia Delano Washington says: 'I don't want to think how or why it happened. I'm saying that even if I have to see those who killed them, I will sincerely forgive them. I have nothing to say for vengeance because it will never bring them back.'"
You may or may not know about Columbia, but he has been joining our H2O group for months now. He is indeed a blessing to us, and his life experience is like a alarm reminding us that our God is alive and real, instead of a lips talking so called "God".
Columbia has personally requested me tonight to share this articles to the H2O group, to witness how God is a living God, the all-knowing and all-powerful one who can change and rescue our life and most importantly our soul.
This is Columbia's favorite quote I believe, written by his grandfather:
"I have learned that success is measured not so much by the position one has reached in life as by the obstacles he has overcome." --Booker T. Washington
and I would like to response his quote with someone else's quote, which is also one of my favorite:
"Our greatest fear as individuals should not be of failure but of succeeding at things in life that don't really matter" -- Tim Kizziaror check out Philippians 3:8
