Hi h2o!

Have you seen the maples and sumacs recently? Many of the leaves have changed to yellow, orange or brilliant red. In Ottawa we have one of the best displays of fall colours, and one of the best places for viewing the colours is in the Gatineau Hills.

The fall foliage should be near its peak on Sunday, October 14, when we will have the h2o’s annual hike in the Gatineau’s. The day begins with the H2o Sunday school class at 9:30 followed by the worship service at 11:00. Come to church prepared for the hike – bring comfortable clothes and hiking shoes if you have them (if not, wear running shoes). Following the church service, at approximately 12:45, we will leave for Luskville Falls. The drive will take about 45 minutes, so we should be there around 13:30. A picnic lunch will be provided, which we will eat at the picnic grounds near the parking lot before we commence our hike.

The trail at Luskville Falls leads first to the falls and then to several scenic lookouts with views of the Ottawa River and areas near Kanata.

Although the trail is quite steep, h2o’s should not find the hike too great a challenge. Hikers encountered last week included many young children, who seemed to be enjoying the climb.\

The trail ends at an old fire tower. The path to the lookouts is uphill but is relatively easy. From the lookout to the fire tower, the trail is relatively level Last week, when our mentor, Rod Chu, tested the hike, he made it to the fire tower in 55 minutes.

At the fire tower, we will pause for a time of devotion, meditation, and sharing. Our God is great, and His greatness is demonstrated through the wonders of His creation.

We expect to complete the hike by 16:30 and be back in Ottawa shortly after 17:00.

The weather has been wonderful recently, and hopefully, will be nice on the day of the hike. If it rains, alternate activities will be planned, so keep the afternoon free!!!
