christmas shoeboxes and iron chef~!

hey guys, we need your help! as you may or may not know, our church is once again participating in collecting christmas shoeboxes this year! 'operation christmas child', an annual event by samaritan's purse (the same organzation that we've donated our proceeds from the katrina relief sales to), collect tens of thousands of shoeboxes every year to the needy children all around the world with toys, stationaries and other goods. ccco wants to be involved again because we believe that every children should have a happy and meaningful christmas, but also, more importantly, to share God's love and grace, and share a hope that exist in Jesus Christ. if you feel like you want to participate please pick up a box or two (or more if you can handle!) from the church and fill it up and return it back to ccco by no later than sunday, november 6th, 2005. all the instructions as to what you should and shouldn't include are inside the box, as well as other information you may need to know. if you were with us last friday for our topical study then this is the perfect opportunity to apply what you've learned about materialism! reach out and help those in need!

also, the church have asked our fellowship to help with sorting out all the shoeboxes so they'll be ready to be shipped out. we will be going through each and every one of the shoebox to double check for perishables, unsafe toys, unfinished packaging, etc. if you are interested please let us know via email at h2ofellowship@gmail.com or leave a comment on our website stating you want to help us with this. once you've signed up you'll be notify with the details on when we'll be going through the boxes. thanks so much, as your help will be needed!

the last thing that we want your attention is that on saturday, november 12th, 2005, ccco will be having the 'iron chef' event! there will be teams to compete against each other to cook up a 3 course meal for a panel of judges, and they will determine which team is the ultimate iron chef! our h2o fellowship will have our own team, along with a youth fellowship team, and other adult teams as well. the event coordinator, pauline, have asked me to make a list of participants and to select a team captain for the event by next sunday so they can have a head count. if you're up to the challenge to cook and be as creative and decorative as you can, please join us by putting your name down via email at h2ofellowship@gmail.com or leave a comment on our website to say you're joining us that saturday, or if you want to lead our group and be our team captain for the event! it will be so much fun as we work together as a team. more details will come as the event is near. we will also have a pre-iron chef event the day before to get ourselves ready as a team! hope to see your name up here!

stay tune for details on the hike this saturday at the beautiful gatineau park. see you all later!
